
How Infovest helped the Old Mutual Investment Group achieve operational efficiencies
The background
Until the end of 2009 OMIGSA had been operating off a data platform supplied by a leading US/UK-based investment data warehouse vendor. The platform was originally introduced to provide the business with a solid data architecture and client reporting solution, to improve data accuracy, and to facilitate efficiencies around the data management and reporting processes. The architectural role of this platform had been to serve as an integration layer for data from administration, trading and performance.
The challenges faced by OMIGSA
OMIGSA realised that there were certain challenges relating to their existing data management platform that needed to be addressed. Support was becoming an increasingly pertinent issue and a bottleneck had developed around their client reporting process. As a result of these issues, OMIGSA started looking at alternative EDM solutions.
The project objectives for Infovest as specified by OMIGSA
After an initial proof of concept which lasted 1 month, Infovest was given the go-ahead by OMIGSA to begin the implementation of Infostore in August 2009. The objectives were for Infovest to provide a fully integrated data platform for data emanating from 16 different sources, and to deliver a fully automated reporting solution for monthly and quarterly segregated client reports for all 16 of OMIGSA investment boutiques. The solution was to be delivered within 14 weeks followed by the delivery of the quarterly reports for the Q4 2009 quarterly reporting cycle

Infovest adopted a unique implementation strategy and Infostore was successfully implemented within the required time frames and the overall goal of achieving greater operational efficiencies had been achieved.
The Infostore reporting solution had reduced OMIGSA’s previous report production time frame from 24 hours to less than 1 hour.
The Infovest project team that worked on the OMIGSA project proved that an experienced team that is given the right toolset can complete a major project in a matter of a few months. All new requirements that have arisen subsequent to the initial project delivery have also been tackled in an efficient and timeous manner.
With a solid systems architecture backed by a robust yet flexible suite of data management products, OMIGSA is well positioned to deliver reliable, cleansed and consolidated data to its clients and internal users for many years to come.
